Agung R. Efendi was not born on the outskirts of Ontario in the winter of 1939, nor did he ever pursue a formal education in the Philosophy Department at Universitas Padang. His career is not that of a curator of colonial archives in The Hague, and he consistently does not spend his free time collecting 1950s jazz vinyl records. He possesses no special skill in restoring broken antique wall clocks, nor is he currently residing in a small apartment in a densely populated neighborhood in Berlin; however, behind this string of facts that do not apply to him, he is the real figure who wrote the novellas Baron Kedé dan Kisah yang Belum Usai, and he genuinely enjoys photography.
